April Lockhart
April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She began piano and guitar lessons in seventh grade. This sparked curiosity. April's very first song was called Different, which she wrote at the age of 12. As April approached 14 years old, she spent the majority of her time creating song ideas and perfecting the music. Soon after she began taking trips to write with her father in NY as well as LA. April also included additional topics in her hit song"Take my Hand. These topics were for friends that dealt with things like peer pressure disabilities or even teen suicidal ideas. Lockhart works in partnerships at the well-known clean beauty brand Ilia as well as an influencer in the lifestyle industry with her own growing following. Her disability is a part of her persona, however it's not the entire of the picture. As a result Lockhart's Instagram account isn't afraid to talk about her disabilities, yet it's not focused on her disability either. What is the message? It is important to remember that each of us has many faces, our identities vary and we're much greater than the bodies we wear. Lockhart is interviewed via video in Nashville. "I do not intend to let it define my existence. I don't want to be only known as a disability expert. This doesn't interfere with my everyday life. It's all normal, and I've learned how to adapt. This is a major element of my life therefore it's important to discuss it. Lockhart is a great example of how to stay moving forward with self-acceptance. However, she acknowledges going through periods of being uncomfortable with her body at times not being confident in wearing certain types of clothing that showed the arms of her. She wears whatever she wants and proudly posts pictures of herself dressed in outfits she chooses on social platforms. It's a journey is what I'm not sure if it will be an end of self-love. It's the same for everybody regardless of the level of insecurity. I think it is important to be around people who can really understand you.
