The reason she felt it was important to draw interest from politicians and convince them to take action to stop global warming. Swedish media reported Thunbergs protest and spread the word about her protest. The following weeks the students from all over joined Thunberg's #FridaysforFuture movements. Students opted to skip Friday school in protest against global warming. Climate activists from across the world coordinated the very first Global Strike for Climate in the year 2019. The Global Strike for Climate was an incredible accomplishment. More than 1.6 million people participated across 125 nations.
